Workforce Dynamics and Culture
Conflict Management
We have a range of offerings for learning how to manage conflict, from a two-hour module to a two-day workshop. Based on the “Getting to Yes” work by Fisher and Ury, the session focuses on listening skills, advocacy and inquiry, the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Style Inventory, and the 5 Step process to reach a mutually beneficial agreement. Numerous activities and role-plays assist in the development of the skills and behaviors necessary to create wise agreements.
Culture Survey Assessment
Destra supports cultural assessment in two primary ways. First, using a combination of small and large group interviews and online assessments we can custom design a cultural assessment to fit any size organization or business unit. Second, we can also design as assessment strategy around an existing instrument to ensure that gaps between current and desired culture are identified and constructive action is taken to close the gaps.
Facilitation Skills for Leaders (FSL)
One of Destra’s foundational workshops, FSL, focuses on providing individual contributors and team leaders the facilitation tools and skills needed to accomplish work through others. The 2.5 day session covers the “playbook” of problem solving tools, decision making styles, advocacy and inquiry, meeting planning, and managing group dynamics. The material is covered in a highly experiential manner, so there are multiple opportunities to practice new skills.
High Performance Work Teams
Destra has several workshop designs to help you improve team effectiveness and create high performing teams. Based on research and best practices, the work includes a team effectiveness assessment and analysis and is structured around the building blocks of Team Fitness: Customer Focus; Purpose, Goals and Direction; Team Dynamics and Organizational Norms; and Project Planning and Implementation.
Managing Work in a Changing Environment
This workshop is for people and institutions facing an impending merger, downsizing, or other radical organizational change. The focus is on participants understanding that the business world always has a component of changing realities, and yet still have a high degree of personal influence and control on their work environment.
Team Start Up
Destra conducts workshops for intact teams and workgroups that enable them to begin their work assignments in the most effective manner. This includes alignment on areas such as leader/sponsor level of support, charter (goals, scope, timeframe, milestones, and metrics), roles and responsibilities, operating agreements and accountability, work style preference indicators, communication and conflict resolution, and interpersonal effectiveness.
Workforce Dynamics Assessment™ (WDA)
The WDA is an assessment process that helps leaders and/or teams explore what dynamics within the culture currently help or hinder progress toward a desired goal. The WDA uses individual interviews, focus groups, and working meetings with members of management to produce a set of findings which are then shared with the leadership team. It is scalable in scope working equally well for departments, divisions or organizations.
Work and Personality Style Assessments
MBTI / Extended DISC/ Emotional Competency Inventory/ Benchmarks
- Myers-Briggs® Type Indicator is the most widely used personality style indicator in use today. The MBTI assesses personal preferences in the way we process information and make decisions, and can be used to elicit individual and team insights on work preferences and improve communication.
- Extended DISC® is an on-line instrument that provides excellent information both about individual type and the profiles of a given team. Individual team members take the survey on-line; the reports are used in team start-up and/or on-going development.
- The Emotional Competency Inventory is based on Daniel Golemen’s work in Emotional Intelligence, and has proven very useful in providing individuals with insights on how well they pay attention to the relational elements of leadership.
- Benchmarks® is from the Center for Creative Leadership. We like this instrument because it is one of the most comprehensive 360’s available. The assessment provides insight into a variety of leadership behaviors, including Leading Employees, Resourcefulness, Building Relationships, and Decisiveness. Benchmarks also includes a comprehensive development plan to address areas that may stall one’s career.
Client quote - "Destra's style was such that we always felt that they were part of us, that we were one team."
